Celebrated trumpeter Scott Tinkler and composer Andy Fiddes have teamed up with Australia’s leading jazz orchestra to create a superb new album for Rattle Jazz. Further affirming it’s artistic mission, the Sydney-based Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra has produced a recording that highlights the exceptional depth and breadth of talent at the cutting edge of the Australian jazz scene, a work of great quality and nuance.

A powerhouse of energy and sound, JMO seeks to blur the boundaries between generic musical forms, delivered through the dynamic, rhythmic, and textural context of the large ensemble setting, and by judiciously selecting original music from Australasia’s most accomplished composers.

We spent 18 months developing this collaboration, a powerfully contemporary work that combines one of our most internationally renowned improvisers, Scott Tinkler, alongside one of the most innovative jazz composers working today, Andy Fiddes,” says David Theak, JMO co-founder and Artistic Director. “The compositions were written as an extended work to showcase trumpeter Scott Tinkler in a big band setting. From its inception in 2003, the JMO has steadily worked towards this, our most ambitious large scale project.”

This is our second release for New Zealand’s fantastic Rattle Jazz label. We love Rattle’s commitment to quality in sound and design, and the fact they have such an interesting and diverse roster of artists, a showcase for the originality and fire of Australasian jazz.”

Recording available on Amazon, iTunes, Amplifier, Mighty Ape, and from the Rattle website. For more album details or to purchase CLICK HERE
